Day of Design Thoughts

I attended the first and third speakers sessions and I found both of them very interesting and helpful.

The first speaker was very helpful and focused mainly on communication and getting people motivated to make a change.  She said to not assume that communication has already been established between team member and to ensure that each member agrees on the direction the project is going.  Another point she made was that when you present an idea or project, you need to make such an impact that people are motivated to make it happen even outside the conference room.  Involve them in the process and give them something tangible to help them see that it can be a reality.

The third speaker was impromptu so he was not that well prepared but he still had an interesting talk.  He showed us this website he was working on and how it needs to be user oriented and gave some examples of some areas the site needed to improve on.  He also talked about staying committed and not just scrapping your ideas.

Week 2B In class

Week 2B

Today we had a skype call in class with Kim Erwin about designing for impact.  She talked about how communication is extremely important and everyone needs to be on the same page with everything that is taking place in the project and they all need to agree on it.  When presenting projects, make people feel it. Create an experience. You need to make them feel like there is a need to make a change even outside of the conference room.

Week 2A

We watched some videos that gave more insight into what motion graphics really were.  Then we created some small animations with frames that we drew.  It reminded me of some toys that I played with when I was a kid.  We were then assigned emotions and mine was "disgust" and I had to act it out so I basically just side-eyed my friend and everyone immediately got it.  Now we have to animate a line to express this emotion but it's very restricted in what I can and cannot do so I'm not so sure how I'm going to pull this off.

Week 1B (First Class)

We just went over the syllabi and class expectations today.  Gaby is sitting beside me and I'm really excited about it in all honesty.  She's very creative and hard working and not to mention hilarious. I know I wasn't very good at updating my blog for my last class with him but I'm determined to change that this semester.
